Episode 186: Marielle Jauring (re-visited)

Bike Touring Around the World

Marielle Jauring’s plans for travel where triggered after reading a newspaper article when she was 13, about a woman biking from Europe to China, and a throwaway line to her friend Frida: “we should do this one day.” Years later, that idle comment turned into a 9,000km ride across the United States, and then into nearly a decade of near-constant touring across Australia, New Zealand, Canada, Europe and Asia. I spoke to Marielle for this episode when she was mid tour, somewhere between Poland and Sri Lanka.

I first released this episode in November 2024 and am re-releasing it as I think there are so many great nuggets of wisdom that Marielle shares within it.

Whether you’re planning your first weekend bikepacking trip or a seasoned bike adventurer, this one delivers both wanderlust and a reminder that the best-laid plans rarely survive contact with the road.
