Our experience cycling from Nice to Cannes
We rode from Nice to Cannes on the last of our three days in Nice after first completing the Nice to Monaco route and then the Col de Vence route. Given the temperature was forecast to be hot again, we headed off nice and early to beat the worst of the heat and humidity.
The great thing about this ride is that the majority is on bike paths and bike lanes. Early in the morning there is not so much traffic as the beach-goers have not yet hit the beach. We enjoyed stunning views of the Mediterranean as the cycle paths follow the coastline for much of the way. The route is mainly flat and over the 66km we rode there was only 338m of elevation gained.
We would recommend this route for riders of any level. You can ride as far as you like and you don’t have to go all the way to Cannes to enjoy the stunning seaside views. There are plenty of towns and villages along the way to enjoy a coffee and croissant. Early in the morning is the best time to complete this ride as once the crowds start arriving at the beach there will be people everywhere. If you can visit this area outside the peak months of July and August it will not be as busy, but still expect some crowds as it is a very popular tourist destination.
For the most part the route was easy to find and well sign posted. There were a couple of spots we had a little trouble finding the right way, but it never took too long and we were back under way before we knew it. If you download our GPX file to your device it will make the navigation nice and easier, but don’t worry if you don’t have the ability to do this.
