We visited Mont Saint Michel in August 2021. It was a stop on a 3 week cycling tour from Normdany to the Pyrenees. We stayed 2 nights.
Mont Saint Michel is in the North West of France. It sits on the Atlantic coast 360km from Paris. The island is connected to the mainland by a causeway and bridge
Mont Saint Michel is located on the EuroVelo 4 and Veloscenic cycle routes connecting you to other destinations
Mont Saint Michel is open all year apart from Christmas Day, New Year's Day and May Day. We recommend visiting in spring or autumn to avoid busy summer crowds
There is a range of accommodation to suit every style and budget. We camped at the grounds located near the start of the causeway out to the island
While the village on the island is free to visit, you must purchase tickets to visit the famous abbey at the top.
There are plenty of bike racks to lock your bike up on the land side of the causeway. While you can cycle to the island there are no racks available.
Choose from a variety of restaurants and cafe's on the island and surrounding villages . Try the famous omelette from La Mere Poulard
There are plenty of car-free cycle paths for everyone to enjoy at Mont Saint Michel.
We stayed 2 nights giving us a full day to explore. As a minimum allow a full day. You could easily spend 2-3 days and visit the island and surrounds.
