Cycling routes in France

On this page, you will find a range of cycling routes in France for you to consider. At present these are predominantly road cycling routes in the Pyrenees, French Alps, Jura, Provence, Bordeaux and Nice regions. We will be adding to this page regularly and expanding the list to include cycle touring routes as well as ideas for short rides in various regions around France.

Our suggested cycling routes have links to Ride With GPS so you can see details of the route including distance, gradient profile, and elevation gain. You can also download the route to your mobile phone or other devices for easy navigation.

The Pyrenees

We have over 40 cycling routes in the Pyrenees for you to view and undertake. Take in iconic climbs like Col du Tourmalet, Col d’Aspin, and Col d’Aubisque or try one of the voie verts such as Saint Girons to Foix.

The French Alps

Choose to cycle the legendary Alpe d’Huez, Col du Galibier, or Col d’Izoard or take in something a little easier such as the scenic loop around Lake Annecy.

Nice and the Cote d’Azur

Choose from cycling along the stunning coastline or head into the mountains behind. Here you will find the Col de la Madone and Col d’Eze to test your legs.

This area of France has long been one of the must-visit locations for holidaymakers and there are plenty of options for the cyclist as well. Mont Ventoux towers over the surrounding landscape and is a bucket-list climb for many.

The Jura

One of the lesser-known and smaller mountain ranges in France, the Jura sits near the Swiss border. Here you will find climbs such as Mont du Chat and Col du Grand Colombier or enjoy a cycle around Lac du Bourget.
